A Little History
The Calgary Stampede officially came into being in 1912. It traces its roots to the Calgary and District Agricultural Society.

Weadick and La Due: The Original Stampede Team
Guy Weadick, an American showman persuaded the "Big Four" to sponsor the inaugural Stampede. A total purse of $20,000 was put up for the winners, making the Stampede the richest ranch contest ever.
